24.10.11 One down another to go!!

Well, that's the first project completed!! "Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?" is done and dusted. Completition of artwork and presentation of the final piece came together Thursday 13th October. Reflecting back on this project I do not feel that the final artwork reached its full potential.

Despite successfully completing the project and getting positive feedback from fellow students and lecturers, I feel that I could have taken the project futher. In terms of medium, i feel that I was very experimental with the materials i was using and the approaches I was taking. However, I feel that the experimental work I produced within the sketch book  proved to be much more effective.
Below and photographs of the final artwork:

There was a lot of aspects that I would have liked to take further into development and possibly into a final piece, however due to time constraints and my inability to have the confidence I needed to progress I was unable to. But, fear not, this will not be an issue in the next brief: "To create an artwork in response to the new Alloa campus."

As this is was the first project I had completed at degree level, I feel that I have been successful at working at an advanced level and was able to interpret the brief with creativity and individuality.

Onwards and upwards, brief 2....i'm ready :)

3.10.11 It's All About the Circles

Over the past week I have successfully managed to come up with an idea for my final piece. During the initial stages of development, i was looking into how i could use symbolism and imagery to illustrate my concept. This proved to be a difficult task as I was unsure as to how i could apply it to all aspects of the brief: "Where do we come from? What are we? Where are we going?" However, after a thorough discussion with my lecturer i was able to make sense of the whole thing....YIPPEE FOR ME!!

To be honest, i'm not 100% sure as to how i arrived at the idea for my final piece, it just came to me in a way. Documented below are photographs I took of different methods and experimental pieces i created. In each one you are able to clearly see my progression from the previous blog i posted. What is demonstrated in each peice, is a very much abstract, symbolic and textured artwork.

The medium used for these was: acrylic gesso primer, acrylic paints and canvas.

During today's video class i started to edit my first ever film. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It's nothing fancy but it's an achievement and for the first time i've actually enjoyed the class :)
