First post of 2012

Well, all work for the creative practice module was successfully completed and submitted for the deadline date. Over the festive period, I have been working on the brief we were issued during PDP: Pathways and Contexts- Research Activity. For the duration of the initial stages of the brief I was required to undertake a period of independent research to identify and evaluate contemporary art, design practices, opportunities and contexts.

Throughout the course of the research I have carried out, I have tried to focus on the work of artists and designers whose work not only appeals to me conceptually but also the way in which it presents itself. What I have found is my research has focused on artists/designers work that researches me on a personal level but that also broadens my knowledge of material manipulation; an apsects that I am eager to express and improve throughout the next brlock of second year.

I am interested in artwork that is of a more conceptual and minimlaist nature. I wish to base my research on the work of artists who are going to inspire me and offer me a different outlook at concept development.

Artists/designers that I have found to be of great interest:
Banksy
Christian Boltanksi
Tracy Emin
Hannah Maybank
Clunie Reid
Crafts Council: ww.craftscouncil.org.uk
Wendy Ramshaw
Michele Oberdieck
Karen A.Whiterod
Design Futures: www.designfuturesgroup.com
