Over the past 3/4 weeks I have been attending our textiles workshop, which is interlinked with the integrated practice module. Throughout this time, I have learned a number of different skills which I feel are going to be extremely benficial, particulary for my integrated project and also my applied practice project.
Skills learned are as follows:
Making laxtex and the incorporation of inks and other materials to create different textures
Knitting
Silk paper
All of the above skills are ones which I thought would never interest me, however, i've been proved wrong. I realise that I am able to apply these skills in a number of different ways, depending on the project and the direction I am intending to take it. For example, the use of silk paper, is something that I am wanting to take forward within my non-place brief, as I feel it relates extremely well to the concept but will also work for displaying purposes.
The textiles workshop has proved to be the most interesting and beneficial workshop to date and is one that I am interested in developing.
Watch this space for uploads of my work...once it eventually lets me upload images :)
