Applied Practice: Multiples

In my last post regarding my intentions for the multiples project, i stated that i was going to focus on producing multiples drawings/photographs of myself. My intention was to express aspects of me which i was self-conscious about. However, through research and then attempting to produce drawings of this nature, i realised just how self-conscious I was and how much confidence I was lacking. Therefore, I felt it appropraite to take the theme of multiples in a completely direction, diversing from my original ide of self-image, self-reflection.

Progressing on from this, and faced with the new challenge of coming up with a new concept, I began to consider the idea of multiples movements. With this in mind as an initial idea, I began to progress further thus arriving at the idea of looking at the different aspects of OCD. The relationship/connection that exists between the idea of repetition of movement and OCD is extremely relevant.

Throughout the course of my research, I have gained a great understanding in terms of the different aspects of OCD, such as the difference of obsessions, complusions and that of OCPD (Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder). Using these elements as the focus of my research, I feel that my approach will be towards the idea of compulsions: cmpulsive rituals people inexplicably feel they have to do. With this in mind, I feel that the experimental stage will consist of repetitative elements. What i intend to do at the experimental/development stage is slightly vague at this time, working within a repetitative nature will possibly be the focual point of my progression.
