Integrated Project: Without Walls

Statement of Intent: (describe the main ideas, concepts, topics and/or themes that you intend to explore in relation to your chosen brief)
In response to the brief “Without Walls”, my approach has been to look at the theme of space. The underlying concept for this project is to focus on the idea of forms of interaction that exist between people and space. Within this I intend to look in further depth at the idea that within society there is a loss of relationship with people and space.
“Space was a collection of relations between objects, given by their distinction and direction from one another.”

Methods, Materials and Processes: (describe what materials, methods and processes you intend to use)
My intention for this project with regards to materials and processes is to experiment with installation elements to achieve an artwork of a fragile and delicate nature, which successfully illustrate/symbolise the fragility of the relationship between people and space. The use of materials must be relevant to the concept and needs to successfully convey the theme of the project aesthetically and conceptually.
Proposed Research: (give examples of appropriate research, including examples of artists/designers and practical experimentation, that you intend to undertake)
Research appropriate to the theme and concept is essential to the successful progression of the project. I therefore intend to look into the work of artists whose work focuses on the theme of space in order to develop my understanding of their interpretation of space but also the work of artists whose focus on the relationship between people within society, space and the relationship between the two.
Artists include the work of: Monika Grzymala, Dryden Goodwin, Rachel Whiteread,
I also intend to further my research with regards to installation and sculpture, alongside different methods and materials that will be relevant to the concept.

Expected Outcomes: (describe the main outcomes that you intend to produce, including key milestones)
My intended outcome for this project is to potentially create an installation piece which will work successfully conceptually and aesthetically. The artwork must be highly resolved to a professional standard and must clearly demonstrate the progression from developmental/experiment work to final art piece.
